I made the decision to take the loan yes and I own that! I made my payments and decided to pay the loan off speaking to a customer service person agreed on the amount to pay off and they then charge me again for another payment after the loan was paid off.

Called to ask for a credit of that last payment back and they said no that the pay off included that payment. Which is untrue.

Very unhappy dissatisfied with the overall experience!!! {{Redacted}}Be careful.

After 4 payments I had the money to pay off so I call for my pay off and they tell me total payoff was 864!!!!

How can the total after $700 worth of payments be more than the original loan!!! Big rip off never again don’t do it!!!

I don't know how this company has been able to operate for such a long time, and the government has DONE NOTHING to protect people that are the already struggling with their financial situations.

This company is a total scam. They do not have their terms clearly stated, and by the time you realize , you have been ripped off, is already too late.

"This types of loans are NOT LEGAL"

Then why did you take it? The door swings both ways.

You know buying *** is illegal, would you buy it and then yell that it's not legal.

It was legal enough when you NEEDED their money.

How long did you keep this loan running?

Why didn't you pay it off and avoid the high interest rates that YOU agreed to.

I spoke to them and I was told I still owed $1800. I told them that I already paid $1440 and by law the loan is satisfied.

I also told them that I will be filing a complaint with the FTC and the California State Attorney General's office regarding their illegal and fraudulent claims that I somehow owe them $3200 for a $900 loan. That is almost 500% interest. Tell me that is not a predatory practice. That is as predatory as they come and in fact, they use Native Americans to hide their illegal loan practices.

I asked the rep, who goes under the name "Shiela" how come this was never outlined how much money I owed them after the end of the loan. She danced around the question.

I am gonna call the bank and tell them not to allow American Web Loans or any business that is affiliated with them to take money out of my bank account until I have a lawyer do a complete investigation on this company's deceptive business practices. This company needs to be shut down and its employees need to go to prison like the employees at Enron did.

Original review posted by user Sep 11, 2017

I took a small loan out to cover oversraft fees so I can pay my bills and found out I was hit with a 497 percent interest rate on a $900 loan just to stay afloat. I am ever more irritated to find that out of the more than $1400 Inpaid them, I only paid $59 of the principle.

Loans like that should be and in fact, pretty sure they are illegal. After reading this site and realising what happened, I am seriously considering getting the FTC involved as well as the California State Attorney General. Loans like this should be illegal. No loan should charge people almost 500 percent interest on anything.

I also learned that they are not a recognised company in the State of Oklahoma, which could also get them into some serious hot water. I can see them chsrging 30 or 40 percent but not 500 percent interest.

It is ridiculous. I mean I understand It is a short-term loan, but no where did they list the fees and APR like they are supposed to and I found out that they are not licensed to loan money in the State of California. That alone makes the loan null and void.

Dear #AmericanWebLoan I *** hate you. My cars transmission went and I borrowed the money to have it fixed.

I borrowed 1000 around the beginning of june..now trying to pay back that 1000. You've charged me 107.10 every week for 2 months. I get on the phone to hear that all of those 8 payments were interest. Now my next payment will go towards the 1000 that I applied for..2 to 5 dollars out of 100 of it....which means 94 to 98 dollars a week is still going towards interest and 2 to 5 is going towards my 1000...I need help.

I need someone. I'm literally paying 107 a week until March ...UNTIL MARCH...I can't afford this...I can't. Share this or tag people.

I screwed myself on applying for a loan but this is horrible...its a horrible scam ....look at the amount still due...1078...Where the *** did the 78 come from.... SHARE SHARE SHARE.

They are expecting me to pay $357 every 2 weeks for 9 months. Thats over $7000 in the end at about a 600% interest charge. This is the most ridiculous and scamming loan service i have ever experienced. I will never recommend these people and definately will never do business with them again no matter how desperate i am.

I received a approved web loan in the mail, I called and was told they would loan me $1,000.00 and my payback would be $1,200.00, I agreed and received the money. After my second payment I decided to change from weekly to bi-weekly and got an email for the scheduling change, that is when I saw it.

Bi-weekly payments of $243.00 for a year!!! That's over $6,000.00 for a $1,000.00 loan!!! Luckily I caught this before they scammed me any further, I went and opened up a new account at a different bank and closed the one they were stealing money from, I recommend if you get mail from them burn it!

If you fell for their lies close your account immediately! Scam artists, liars, crooks, thieves!!!

I applied for a loan this evening, I was approved, I spoke with 4 people initially, finally be told I had been approved for $700, and that my payments were $209 for 6 months, that I would be getting electronic documents and to look them over and sign. I said ok, I will look them over, I read everything before I commit.

When the documents came in, it was $209, but it was 6 payments, it was 13, 13 biweekly payments, I would have paid over $1900 in interest alone for $700. To make a long story short, they got nasty when I asked them about the legitmacy of this loan. We chatted for a bit, and eventually as I was telling the person on the other end I was not interested, he shut down our chat. I emailed them, I advised that I was going to take this to my banks attornies if there were any issues with canceling said loan, since I had not signed anything.

I finally got an email stating that in order to cancel the loan I just needed to make a phone call. I called alright and played their own game, I advised him that the call was being recorded, and that I wanted to cancel the application, he tried to talk me out of it. As I was finishing, he hung up on me. So, I called back, I got some one name Liesha, I also advised her the call was being recorded.

By the time the call ending, my application was being canceled, and in 24-48 hour I would get an email stating that I had canceled my application. Once I had decided that I was not that desperate, i started doing some review reading, and read multiple post where people just never signed the documents and the money just appeared in their accounts. Hence the reason I went ahead and called and recorded our conversation.

My protection. It is underly sickening to think that our goverment allows this to happen, they basically make up their own rules because it's an indian reservation, with all the *** money they scam I gotta ask why they are all living in poverty.....

Problems with payment

I borrowed $1000 from AWL in May of 2016 and set up auto payments of $179.29 every two weeks ($359 month). They NEVER explained that the payments would go to interest only, but they did tell me there would be 7 payments.

This would amount to paying back a total of $1255. So I agreed, because I really needed the money for my daughter who was ill and out of work and had two small children. I figured it was comparable to payday loans that are high interest. When the 8th payment was taken out of my account, I called them and was told, oh no, the payments would keep going until March, 2017.

I then closed my account in November and got a new one to prevent them from taking anymore money. By then I had paid them a total of $2334 on a $1000.00 loan! They called for a few months, but I would not answer their calls. Now a year later, I received a phone call by someone claiming to be a law office (from a similar number from before) saying I was being sued by AWL but I could agree just to pay them $1300 and they would drop it.

Then they told me that if I didn't pay that I would be taken to court to get 3X that amount from me. When I tried to explain what the nasty situation was (thought I was talking to a lawyer) he accused me of being untrustworthy, and a liar! Said he didn't believe a thing I said to him! I was pretty hot and then hung up on him.

Realized it was just AWL trying a different tactic. We will see if I get any "legal" paperwork in the mail or a court summons! These loans are illegal in Virginia and I found that out, unfortunately, the hard way.

I am going to contact the OAG here in Virginia. There is no way I am paying $4000 back on a $1000 loan and now they want more!
