American Web Loan - Loan Review from Richardson, Texas

I'm so upset!! Do NOT use American Web Loan.

I borrowed $600 thought I was down to my last payment. I called them to confirm that and was told by Customer Service that I will be paying back $2000 on a $600 loan unless I had paid the loan back the following day. That I was only paying the interest only!! I think this is a total scam!!

I was not told that. He said well it's all in the paperwork we sent to you.

The paperwork they give you AFTER you agree to the loan and once you agree, you can't cancel the loan. They don't explain that to you over the phone!!

American Web Loan's reply to: 400% interest!! Stay AWAY from this company!!

400% interest!! Stay AWAY from this company!!

I feel ***, but borrowed $600 for a quick loan. After paying $165 biweekly for two months, with an added $50 with one of those payments, nothing came off of my balance!

It was ALL interest and by the time I would have gotten done with payments, I would have paid these thieves about $2000! I cannot believe they can even stay in business. I paid my balance off right away in one payment! Stay clear of this place.

They will not explain anything to you over the phone when going over the terms. This company should be investigated right away!

American Web Loan is a SCAM

So I needed a quick extra cash of $1000. The operator on the phone said I was going to be only charged a fee of $300 for the loan.

Unfortunately, they didn't explain that each of my $300 payments went directly to the interest and not the principal. I paid $1200 in interest and found this out. I closed my bank account and they will not receive a penny more from me. These companies should not be able to be in business.

I didn't know the conditions and I specifically asked the question of "How much additional money would I be charged besides the $1000 loan I received?" The operator answered, "Only $300." Thanks Lady, thanks for bull sh*tting me. All the information I have read on the internet in reference to this company, I don't understand how it is still in business. We need to do something. People can't pay this kind of interest.

You have better rates from the criminal loan shark down the street from you. How are they considered criminal but these companies are allowed to do business?

Extremely high interest rates

I got a loan from America Web Loan for $500.00 thinking it would be the same terms as my credit union. Nope i should have read the fine print.

Im thinking ok if i authorize them to take 250.00 out of my account each pay cycle for two weeks i would be fine. Not the case at all. The loan tripled almost.

SO if you cant pay your loan back in one lump sum dont even attempt to get a pay day loan. Now i have to pay collections which is a better deal because you can pay it off a lot cheaper

I have filed a police report on them and you can go to www.IC3.GOV and file a complaint against them. Hopefully enough complaints will get the FBI to look into them.

STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!

High bi-weekly payments and none of it goes towards your balance.... HUGE RIP-OFF and NONE of that was disclosed when I took out the loan....

they did not send me a loan agreement until 2 weeks after I took the loan out and I had to call and request it. NOT WORTH IT!!!! BIGGEST FINANCE FEES/ APR I HAVE EVER SEEN ON A PAY DAY LOAN! They will disclose none of that to you on the phone...

I borrowed $500. I was being changed $300 every 2 weeks and NONE of that went towards the principle balance...

a $300 finance fee every other week! Highway robbery!!!

Same issue I thought some of the payment would go towards the loan. I borrowed 400 and paid back 1,440.00.

Please dont do this go to a on site check advance company. That's what i thought AWL fees would be similar too.

Not even close I had no clue none of my payments were NOT going towards the l loan. RIPOFFS BEWARE

DO NOT TAKE OUT A LOAN

Do not ever take a loan out from this company unless you have the means to pay the loan off immediately!! They will take a set "payment" from you every two weeks until the loan is paid off.

The "payment'" is completely interest, nothing goes towards the loan balance.

The represenative that I spoke with while taking out the loan did not explain this to me; so while I was paying the "payment" every two weeks (thinking it was being applied to interest and balance) my loan balance stayed the same. I ended up paying 110% of my loan amount in interest before I realized what was going on.

What should I do about this American Web Loan ? They keep taking money out of my account every two weeks. Had them paid three months ago.Can I stop them from drafting my money out of my bank account OMG !

Simple as closing your account, then you will have the infamous recovery agents calling; no big deal. They will threaten you, but legally cannot do anything.

They have no right to take as much as they do when they do not fully explain the loan and how it works. I will never give them another dime.

Ripoff

I just don't think it's legal or should be legal! I was behind on my car note due to sudden illness and borrowed $ 500 from these people, remember that I had to pay $150 interest even tho I thought it was a high interest on a $500 loan I said yes because I needed it.

Now they deducted $750 from my account when I called them I was told that I had to pay $150 from July to February every two weeks which= $2100.00 total. I live in Massachusetts I don't know what to do or what step to take because the lenders shouldn't be able to charge so much.

#869415

They are a {{Redacted}} company that is not governed by U.S. Federal guidelines.

Every two weeks you are paying the interest. You are paying $250 in interest which is 30%. This still leaves the original $500 principal. The best thing you can do is make an additional principal payment for as much as you can afford.

If you make a payment of $100 to your principal that is going to bring your principal down to $400 then your 30% interest payment is going to go down to $120.

Just keep paying on that principal as quickly as you can. Even if you have to get a cash advance on a credit card to pay this off, just do what you can.

American Web Loan - Loan Review

I borrowed 500$ thinking my loan was paid off they continue to take money from my account. I called them to see what was going on I was told I still owe $500 more when I told them all that was taken from my account by them I was told that was the principal.

These people are the most crooked I've run across .they need to be shut down.

I ask anyone going through a hardship just wait it out or you'll find yourself paying through the nose.really mad as *** in Atlantic City. Never will I recommend this company to anyone.learn from my big mistake trusting these people.

This is how you resolve balances

American Web Loan is not recognized to do business in Oklahoma. Additionally, neither is the business accredited by the Better Business Bureau or act under United States law. To clarify, any money borrowed will not be recognized on a credit report because the U.S. does not recognize AWL as a legal company. They scammed you, now it's your turn.

Here is what you can do-

By law, any ACH transaction that you may have setup can be stopped. This is not U.S. law - this is through any contract agreement signed between the cardholder and the lending bank. AWL may not be recognized in the U.S. but they are required by merchant standards to obey credit card/debit card transaction law. Simply ask AWL to remove and revoke all pending or proceeding ACH payments.

What this means to you-

Your account will go into collections, but who cares? AWL won't show up on a credit report so it's like you never borrowed money from the start. They can't take you to small claims court thinking they will get your money because a court system is governed by state laws. In this case, they reside in OK but Oklahoma doesn't recognize them as a business. My story is a friend got screwed from this 'business' and I was intrigued to get his money back. What did I do? I borrowed $1000 and after four days I requested the ACH withdraw form or email address they are required to provide. I had my account shut down and quietly put $1000 in my pocket, to my friend's back pocket. Sure their 'recovery' department calls once every three months but what gives?

I already paid off my loan and they just kept on taking money out of my acct till the point where I had to close it. Now I get calls on my cell phone and work phone.

How do I get them to stop this?!?! Please help!!

#880830

What do you mean it is not accredited with the BBB or Act under US Law?

The BBB is a private organization.

It doesn't mean anything if they are not paying a membership to the BBB to be accredited.

I am curious though about what you mean about the Act under US Law? They too, have taken advantage of me and after having over $500 withdrawn from my account, I've had none of this applied to the principle balance.

#1404607
@PissedConsumer880830

The same thing happened to me they never put any money to principle after they said it would be appiled after the first. What did you do? Please help?

#875955

How can you scam them back if they never give you your money?

#872265

this sounds interesting. can you answer, what do you mean you 'requested the ach withdrawal form or email'?

and which account did you close?

your checking account?

thank you

PEOPLE, PEOPLE! IT IS WHAT IT IS

Guys, read what you sign before entering into contract. Yes, it is extremely high interest. We came to AWL because we could not obtain conventional financing from our banks or had ample credit on credit card. Yes, it's high. It is NOT a long term loan, but a short term. Pay it off in 2 weeks and it's not too bad. Don't blame anyone but yourself that you have no other option. If you want 1.0 percent loan, then get perfect credit. Until then, be grateful that you can get a loan at all without collateral. Reading some of these replies amazes me as to how *** people really are. Did you really thing you were going to get a loan with virtually zero interest based on terrible credit? Come on people. Pay it off asap and it will fill a need.
